These past couple weeks have been to say the least....... NUTS! A good nuts though. To make the LONGEST STORY OF MY LIFE short, I was hired to be a 5th grade teacher this upcoming Fall at an Elementary School I have been at for the past month. I am so excited and think about it everyday.
At BYU in the education program you do student teaching or an internship. With the internship you have to apply and then interview in front of all the principals and facilitators of that school district. There was 36 woman who interviewed for jobs. There are not that many job offers, so you have to impress them. If you get hired, you are a normal teacher who gets paid and your own class. Because I was not going to do this internship, the principal and facilitator at my Elementary School begged me to change my mind. With a lot of pondering, praying and thinking Nick and I decided to go for it. After going through the funnest interview I have ever had, I got hired on by the principal, facilitator and school I have been working with for the past month! I will still be graduating next April, but I will be completely done with undergraduate college classes by the end of SUMMER! Crazy! I cannot believe we have been here less than a year and I will be done by the end of summer. We have a lot to be thankful as well as saying be careful what you wish for because you just might get it (I say this due to the previous post before this).
2 weekends ago my two older sisters came up and stayed with us. We needed a girls weekend badly, and Nick was willing to have all of that estrogen in the house. We went shopping, watched the Cosby Show, laughed a lot, saw Tangled in 3D (again), went out to eat, went for a hike, got our car stuck in the mud, and got our favorite.... Caramel Apples. We always have so much fun.
When we went for a hike at Bridal Veil Falls, we parked on pretty solid ground, so we thought. Our front wheels were in a little bit of mud. With trying to get out, we got stuck even more. We were all laughing so hard as we were trying to get out. Nick having gotten stuck many times in Florida got right to work. The only problem is, getting stuck in the sand is what he was used to.
MUD is a totally different story.
About 7 people came by to try and help us push our the car and Nick, Lindsay and I were so muddy to prove it. It wasn't until a young man long boarding down the canyon saw us and said he had a truck and would come and pull us out. We were hoping it was a big truck and it was thankfully. It was a 77 Chevy and oh it was pretty. He pulled us right out.
When Nick and I get in these situations we laugh about it more than we get upset because it is just funny situations. It was cold, but we weren't worried at all. These situations always make me so thankful I married an easy going, but hard working man.
We didn't have the camera at the actual seen. BUMMER. But we tried to show how dirty our car was and how gross we were because we were COVERED in wet mud. This picture does not do justice AT ALL! Just use your imagination.
The weekend before that our Aunt Sue came down for a gymnastics meet. She judges meets all over the country because she is the best. We were able to see BYU vs U of U. I love gymnastics and it is great seeing it live. We got to see Sue in her element and then of course hang out with her after. She was too sweet and took us out for dinner at Goodwood Barbecue. Yummy.
Finally, this last weekend we headed up to North Utah and saw some of our childhood best friends, Melissa and Dave. They have a little girl who is 1 and she is too cute. We all brought a plethora of junk food and yummy food and had a filling General Conference weekend. Spiritually filling as well as our stomachs filling. We had a blast Dave and Bwee, THANKS!
This month is March Madness..... I went in to Nick's room one day and saw that he was working hard while the Duke game was on.
We love playing games, and Nick usually wins, but I was winning and I got really excited about it, about 3 times around the board Nick took the win from me with some good moves. This picture makes me laugh.
